This is the classic story about the boxer and the puncher for the WBC heavyweight title from Los Vegas NV on 2/22/2020. This is the second time these two great and powerful athletes are meeting. To get an idea on a prediction, let’s roll back to the first match up from Staples Center in Los Angeles, California December 1, 2018. Tyson “the Gypsy King Fury” is the better boxer whose technical ability is definitely unmatched by Deontay Wilder, however; Wilders right hand has been called the greatest weapon in professional boxing with an incredibly impressive record of 43 professional fights, 42 wins with 41 by knockout and 1 draw from the first match up with Fury. it is also important to note that his knockout - to - win ratio stands at 98%, with 20 knockouts in the first round. That is incredible power in that right hand.

In the first fight Fury was able to move like a middleweight showing just an amazing ability for a heavyweight to get around the ring. His technique was the key for him to stay away from the right hand of wilder at times taunting him. Wilder was able to knock down Fury twice in the first fight the worst being in the twelfth round hitting Fury with a massive right hand. to everyones surprise including Wilder Fury was able to not only get up before the ten count but come back like nothing happened. The fight ended in a controversial split draw, with the scorecards at 115–111 for Wilder, 114–112 for Fury (which was incorrectly announced as 114–110), and 113–113. The Crowd was not happy with the outcome with many believing Fury won the fight. The rematch was announce almost immediately after leading to tonights event.

So what to expect from Wilder - Fury II:

I would expect Fury to be a bit more aggressive but still using the boxing skills that worked well for him in the first match. I expect Wilder to come out looking for that right hand to land and end the fight early which may or may not pay off. Remember Fury is such a good and experienced boxer that he easily saw that right coming. If Fury plays his game, stick to his plan and is able to last to a decision, he has a great chance of winning the fight.

My prediction: Fury with the decision

Ding Ding…..

Round 1:

Fury came right out pushing forward looking like a man with a plan. Fury keeping the pressure on force Wilder to keep the weight on that back right leg. Clearly Wilder was use to being pushed backward he did manage to get off a heavy right hand but with no effect. Fury got off the best connection in the form of a jab in the last ten second of the first round.

Round 2

in the second round Fury continued to push forward laying down that long jag and affectively utilizing that 85 inch reach. Wilder was able to land another good right hand over the top of the jab but once again with almost no effect. The second round ends with both punching straight through the bell. Both fighter were warned by the ref in between rounds.

Round 3

The third round started out a bit slower than the previous rounds both fighters seeming a little cautious. wilder was really telegraphing the right hand which was easily spotted and avoided by Fury. Fury knocked down Wilder with 30 seconds to go as the crowd at the MGM Grand went crazy. The round ended with a standoff but Wilder is definitely rocked and looked hurt.

Round 4

Fury dominating the fight up to this point. Wilder still looked shaken coming into the round and slipped and hit the mat again. Fury forcing the clinch and dominating both from the inside and the outside.

Round 5

Wilder is getting crushed and and knocked down wilder again and Wilder looks out on his feet. Wilder is just getting destroyed. The ref stepped in and took a point from Fury giving Wilder a break. the round ends with Fury dominating Wilder against the ropes. Wilder is cut up and be beat like a rag doll

Round 6

Tyson Fury continues to smash Wilder. This is not a fight but rather a massacre.

Round 7

Wilder continues to eat the jab of Fury and get dominated. The ref stepped in as Wilders corner was throwing in the towel and stopped the fight. TKO, TKO< TKO, FURY IS THE CHAMP, FURY IS THE CHAMP, FURY IS THE CHAMP

Conclusion:

This was less of a fight and more of a boxing lesson with Tyson Fury taking the WBC heavyweight title from Deontay Wilder. Wilders right hand has been called the biggest weapon in professional boxing, however; Wilder just could not find a way to get that big right hand off for a knockout. Fury coming in at 6’9 and 270 lbs is a master of movement making him incurably hard to hit for such a big guy. Fury was able to frustrate Wilders efforts to use his power. Fury stated that he figured Wilder out in the 12th round of his previous fight realizing that Wilder was having difficulty fighting while moving backward. “He seemed awkward and off balance when I pushed him backward in the first match so I kept the pressure on making him push his weight on his right leg”. This was the game plan coming in and it worked out well for the King of the Gypsy’s and new Champ. Wilder has already made it clear that he will execute the contract for an immediate rematch which will most likely take place in Vegas no date is set at this time.
